Microneedling (Lamelle Nova Pen) is used as a treatment for fine lines & wrinkles, it glides over your skin & creates micro-point punctures in the skin. The body perceives the punctures as damage & this stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen & elastin.

Microneedling is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself when it encounters physical damage like cuts, burns & abrasions, where old & damaged tissue is replaced with new tissue.  The micro “injuries” created during the treatment triggers new collagen synthesis, but does not pose a risk of permanent scarring.

Microneedling is a popular skin care treatment and for good reason. The process involves rolling a wand or pen affixed with tiny needles to create tiny wounds. These wounds are microscopic and only skin-deep, but your body responds with alarm, sending in healing factors that boost skin strength, radiance, and health.

Microneedling makes your skin glow after just one treatment and continues to boost the appearance of your complexion for months afterward. The benefits of microneedling are many. Here are 10 of the most notable.

No one wants to look older than they are. But premature aging that presents as fine lines and wrinkles does just that. The tiny injuries from a microneedling session boost collagen and elastin production to fight lines and wrinkles. Collagen and elastin are compounds in your skin that add structure and strength, lending a youthful quality. The wound-healing mechanisms also stimulate your body to produce new skin cells, making fine lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles less apparent.

Because microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin production, it’s highly effective in addressing acne and other scars on your skin. The only type of scar not possible to treat is keloid, or raised, scars.

Microneedling is effective in reducing the appearance of sun damage, particularly hyperpigmentation and age spots. If you have a blotchy, brownish complexion, which is a result of too much sun exposure, microneedling and its ability to stimulate new collagen and skin cells can revive your look and even out your tone.

Aging doesn’t just show up as wrinkles and discoloration. As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity, so it appears loose and saggy. Aging skin may also look dull and lack a lustrous glow. Microneedling can change this. The build-up of collagen that occurs in response to the tiny wounds can improve skin structure to fight sagging. Plus, just 24 hours following a session, you experience a radiant, fresh glow.

Even though microneedling involves punching holes in your skin, it doesn’t increase the size of your pores. In fact, it helps your pores appear much smaller. When the collagen around your pores is stimulated, the area around each pore plumps, making the pore itself disappear.

Post-microneedling is the prime time to apply anti-aging treatments, moisturizers, and other topical treatments that boost skin health and appearance. The micro-holes receive serums more readily and deliver them deeper into your dermis than when applied regularly. At Laser Skin and Hair Clinic we use Collagen and Hyularonic acid serums.

Microneedling works just about anywhere on your body. It can be effective in reducing the appearance of stretch marks that show up after periods of rapid growth, such as during pregnancy.

The reddishness and skin thickening of rosacea can be addressed with microneedling. If you suffer from this skin condition, you experience a accelerated breakdown of collagen. Microneedling stimulates the growth of collagen to offset and replace this breakdown, so your skin looks less inflamed and irritated.

Because of the improved delivery of topical applications, you can use microneedling to help improve the effectiveness of topical acne treatments. Regular microneedling applications at Laser Skin and Hair Clinic can help your skin clear up.

Microneedling’s effects are comparable to laser and chemical peel treatments but without the long downtime. You can enjoy a glowing complexion 24-72 hours after microneedling, but with laser resurfacing, your recovery may take three to 10 days. Your complexion needs 14-21 days to bounce back after a medium or intensive peel. At Laser Skin and Hair Clinic, we want to help you and give advice on what the right treatment would be for your skin. Frequently Asked Questions

Microneedling procedures are performed in a safe manner, using the sterile micro needle head. We use Lamelle Nova Pen

Your skin will be red & flushed, similar to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness & mild sensitivity to touch on the treated area for a few hours after the treatment. The skin will be completely healed within 24 hours.

The healing time of each person varies, but visible results of skin rejuvenation are usually seen after 6 weeks following the procedure & improve further over time.

Microneedling is a more effective treatment. The size of needle in the dermaroller is usually 1 to 1.5mm. Our nova pen allows us to penetrate the skin up to 2.5 mm to tailor to the client’s individual areas of concerns and skin issues, including fine lines and acne scarring.
